GOKWE NORTH – THE Government commissioned an innovation hub at Mutehwe Primary School in Gokwe North, an initiative expected to enhance digital learning and bridge the urban-rural digital divide.
The initiative is part of the Second Republic’s continued efforts to ensure rural learners are not left behind, offering hope that schools in remote areas can also leverage technology to improve learning experiences and address challenges unique to their communities.
“I am happy that we are being given the same opportunities with those in urban areas, now we can also be part of the digital learning space,” a pupil said.
“It is amazing that we will acquire digital skills that are relevant,” another added.
“Now we can reach our full potential because we now have digital learning tools, and we are being given space to be innovative,” an excited learner said.
Parents are optimistic that the innovation hub will transform their community.
“We understand technology is now the way forward and we embrace it here with hope that it will change our lives for the better,” a parent said.
“I am excited that our kids are getting an opportunity to be creative in the digital space and even as a community we will benefit from the internet services,” a guardian said.
Government says the project is part of a grand vision that aims to revolutionise basic education.
“As a government we appreciate that education systems have changed that is why we are doing all we can to ensure that every child has access to digital tools. This promotes innovation and allows learners to explore more. This initiative will be cascaded to all rural schools so that we bridge the digital divide. What we want is for learners to have access to quality and relevant education which proffers solutions to the problems that are there in different communities,” Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Honourable Torerai Moyo said.
Since the adoption of the Heritage-based Education 5.0 model, government has been empowering learners to lead innovations, shaping a future where technology enhances access to quality education.
