THE Second Republic continues to register milestones in the health sector with district hospitals getting new equipment to enhance service delivery.

The commitment towards improving the country’s health delivery system was on show this Tuesday at Zvishavane District Hospital, where a new X-ray machine was installed and commissioned.

“I’m so happy with the work being done by the Ministry of Health and Child Care and partners in ensuring a healthy community in the district. It is my wish that the district can even be equipped with more ambulances to ensure full coverage,” said a resident.

Another added, “We had no X-ray machine at this institution for the past 8 years, but we are appreciative of our leadership for this timely intervention. The donation came at an opportune time when we were faced with a lot of challenges in health delivery.”

The newly installed X-ray machine will have a positive impact on service delivery.

“The newly procured X-ray machine will go a long way in ensuring the provision of high-quality health services to our people in Zvishavane and beyond. It is a positive gesture to the nation,” legislator for Zvishavane-Ngezi Constituency, Honourable Mecky Jaravaza said.

Government has reiterated its commitment to universal health coverage and pledged to accelerate efforts to achieve it by 2030 through expanding services, increasing resources, and improving efficiency.

Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube said, “ Since the advent of the Second Republic, our president has been building new hospitals and clinics while also refurbishing existing ones. At the same time, we have been bringing state-of-the-art equipment. It is in this vein that as Midlands Province, we will continue to do our best and ensure that we give and achieve universal health coverage for all.”

Under the Second Republic, comprehensive and continuous reforms in the healthcare system are underway to boost the quality of services for all, in line with President Mnangagwa’s vision of matching international best practices as a pre-requisite for an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
