GOVERNMENT says it will not tolerate any threats to national security while reassuring the public that it will be business as usual on March 31.
In a media briefing this Saturday, the Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Jenfan Muswere, who is the government spokesperson said citizens should disregard messages circulating on social media regarding the staging of illegal protests.
“All Zimbabweans should disregard treasonous statements from cyber terrorists about March 31. As the government spokesperson, I want to assure the public that peace, stability law and order will continue to prevail in our country,” he said.
He added that law enforcement agents are on high alert with the security forces prepared to deal with any disruptions.
“The security sector can maintain law and order and learners, business and labour should continue doing their business as usual without any fear.
“We have also taken note of fake AI-generated videos that derive to create anarchy despondency and alarm that do not exist in our country. As the law enforcement agencies keep closing on, I would like to remind the nation that no one has the right to overthrow a constitutionally elected government. On the same note, no one has the right to create chaos, despondency and anarchy in our country.”
Government also noted that it will be consequential for those who attempt to incite violence or participate in the illegal gatherings.
