GOVERNMENT efforts towards achieving universal health coverage are on course, with resources being mobilised under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to construct Mabidi Clinic in Beitbridge.
In a few months’ time, residents of Mabidi suburb in Beitbridge town will be accessing quality health care services after Government provided cement and bricks to complete the construction of Mabidi Clinic.
“For us women, it is a positive development as we will no longer be congested at Beitbridge Hospital. I want to thank the Government for remembering us through this construction material which will help us to complete the clinic,” a resident said.
“As a young man, I feel happy because the Government is taking care of us through these health facilities,” another added.
Beitbridge town local leadership is appreciative of the transformative project.
“We applaud the efforts by Government to help us in completing this clinic project, and we will make sure, as residents, we safeguard this development,” Secretary for Urban Residents Association, Mrs Esther Muzata noted.
“We were struggling to complete this clinic since we started it some three years back, but with this material from the Government, we are much assured that by the end of this year we will be done,” Beitbridge Town clerk, Mr Loud Ramakgapola weighed in.
Handing over the construction material in Beitbridge town this Monday, Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe, highlighted that the development is a clear demonstration of Government’s commitment to improving access to quality health care.
“Through the CDF, we are empowering local communities to identify and address their most pressing needs. The construction of this clinic stands as a testament to what can be achieved when government, local authorities and communities work together with a shared vision. Access to healthcare is a fundamental right, and no citizen should be left behind due to distance or lack of facilities. The establishment of Mabidi Clinic will bring healthcare services closer to the people.”
The construction of Mabidi Clinic is part of the Second Republic’s drive to improve access to health care services across the country.
Other health projects that have been completed in the district include the refurbishment of Beitbridge Hospital, Dulivhadzimu and Madiginye clinics.
