Government initiatives improve service delivery in Epworth

RESIDENTS in Epworth have welcomed improved access to essential services, citing ongoing development initiatives that are reducing travel distances and enhancing convenience.

Community members say the rollout of services such as civil registration, legal support and education facilities has transformed daily life.

“We are happy that government is finally recognising this place. I feel proud and encouraged because of the developments that are transforming Epworth into a better community,” one resident said.

Residents noted that access to services has improved significantly, eliminating the need for costly travel.

“I want to thank the government for this development, as we no longer have to spend our own money for transportation to go to the nearest court, as we used to do in the past,” another resident said.

Others highlighted gains in the education sector.

“I am on my way to pay my bills at the Local Board, and I want to thank our President. Our children used to travel long distances to places like Mabvuku and the surrounding areas to access school services. However, things have changed, and we now have many schools within Epworth, making education more accessible for our children,” another resident said.

The Community is also benefiting from the Presidential Title Deeds Programme, which residents say is enhancing property security and value.

“I am happy that our President has launched the Presidential Title Deeds Programme, as it has given my property true value and security, something that was not possible in the past,” a resident said.

Epworth Local Board Chief Executive Officer, Dr Wilton Mhanda said further infrastructure development is underway.

“Firstly, we would like to thank our President for the Presidential Title Deeds Programme, which is currently underway. Secondly, we would also like to thank the government for the development that is set to take place in Glenwood. Roads are going to be opened up, and water infrastructure will be developed. In addition, there are plans for the community to access water from nearby sources, with the government’s support. This includes drawing water to Epworth, where a water treatment plant is expected to be constructed in Glenwood. People are now able to access important documents such as birth certificates and national identity cards at our local offices. This has made the process much easier and more convenient for residents. We also have the Title Deeds Programme, which has seen many residents coming forward to apply for title deeds for their properties. A significant number of residents are responding positively,” he said.

Authorities say the initiatives are part of broader efforts to improve service delivery and infrastructure, positioning Epworth as a growing hub of opportunity.
