Goromonzi schools get new classroom blocks as education development accelerates

FOUR classroom blocks have been commissioned at three schools in Goromonzi district of Mashonaland East province, providing yet another boost for the country’s quest to enhance access to education.

The collaborative effort between government and the community in Goromonzi West Constituency will improve the quality of education and address infrastructure gaps after the completion of a classroom block at Tsatsi Primary School, with three more classroom blocks being constructed at Zimbiru Primary and Secondary Schools.

Tsatsi Primary School’s SDC Chairperson, Charles Murwira, said the new infrastructure comes as a timely intervention.

“The completion of this block is most welcome, it improves the learning environment as our kids will no longer be affected by harsh weather conditions,” he said.

At Zimbiru Secondary School, community members are also investing in specialised facilities.

“As a community, we have embraced the President’s mantra “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo”. These two classroom blocks at Zimbiru Secondary School will ease congestion amongst our learners. We are also moving ahead in constructing a science lab,” Zimbiru Secondary School’s SDC Chairperson, Jonah Munetsi stated.

Ward 4 Councillor Tendai Mashingaidze described the progress as part of a broader development thrust under the Second Republic.

“Today, we are witnessing an important milestone here in Domboshava courtesy of the Second Republic. No one is being left behind, and no place is being left behind in terms of development,” he said.

Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Itayi Ndudzo, applauded the collaboration between Government, traditional leaders and the community.

“This milestone marks a significant achievement in our collective pursuit of quality education and an improved learning environment for our children. I want to thank President Emmerson Mnangagwa for inculcating the right mindset in the nation with the ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’ mantra. We are the builders of our own nation as we journey towards an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.”

Traditional leaders echoed similar sentiments, noting that almost every ward in Goromonzi has benefited from recent education infrastructure projects.

“We have completed classroom projects in almost every ward in Goromonzi District. I want to thank the Domboshava community for complementing government efforts in the construction of schools. Let us continue in that trajectory. With the increased population in Domboshava, more infrastructure is still needed,” a traditional leader said.

The Second Republic has been on a major drive to address infrastructure gaps in schools across the country.
