CANDIDATES for the Glenview South By-election set for April 12, are making final touches in canvassing for voters support through rallies in the constituency.

The ruling ZANU PF leadership graced Chemhanza grounds in Glen View this Saturday to ramp up support for its Candidate Cde Tsitsi Tawomera, as the party seeks to win seats that have been held by the opposition parties over the decades.

The Women’s League led the programme with Exhibitions and awarding of certificates to close to a thousand women who underwent courses in detergent making, poultry and first aid delivery.

“We are here representing the national office to tell them that the President is fully behind them and will offer them projects,” ZANU PF Women’s League Secretary for Finance, Cde Tsitsi Mugabe said.

“We are optimistic of victory, the party is already giving people projects that change lives from detergents, poultry as you have seen,” ZANU-PF Women’s League Secretary for External Affairs, Cde Betty Nhambu Kaseke said.

“We are glad we have a youthful candidate, the party is doing well to grow youth who are eager to develop the constituency,” ZANU PF Harare Province Youth League, Cde Mahachi said.

Cde Tawomera is optimistic of victory banking on projects she is undertaking before getting into office.

“We do not have a secondary school and on Wednesday we will do a ground breaking for one, we are delivering boreholes, solar projects they are already making detergents, we are doing a lot,” she said.

Meanwhile the National Constitutional Assembly held its rally in the constituency with the party president Professor Lovemore Madhuku leading the charge.

“In these by elections it is important to have a person who speaks your concerns it requires you to vote for your voice. Most of the people at parliament are ZANU-PF. It is time to have a different voice.

“Do not waste your vote, vote for people with a party with direction. This one will have a voice, you know what the people require. Speak on how government funds are used not anything else, Secondly the MP will go against unconstitutional activities,” Professor Madhuku said.

The party Candidate also looks towards improving service delivery.

“The message remains, to call for improved legislation that compels service provision, roads, clinics and sewage,” NCA Candidate, Ms Perpetua Mukanda said.

Five candidates will battle it out on April 12 namely Tsitsi Tawomera of ZANU-PF, Perpetua Mukanda of NCA, three independent candidates George Makwangwaidze, Tonderai Chakeredza and Tungamirai Madzokere.

The seat became vacant following the death of Honorable Gladmore Hakata in January this year.
