Gems kick off Celtic Cup preparations with friendly tournament in Harare

THE Zimbabwe senior netball team, the Gems, are set to kick-start their preparations for the Celtic Cup set for Scotland with friendly matches in Harare this week.

The friendly matches will provide valuable experience for the Gems as they continue with their rebuilding efforts and preparations for the Celtic Cup.

The friendly matches have been set into a tournament format at Sunrise Sports Club this Thursday.

The tournament will see the Gems playing alongside their developmental side, the Zambezi Eagles, and Malawi Queens.

Zimbabwe have a strong record in the tournament, having clinched bronze in the previous edition, and the team will be looking to build on this success.

The friendlies will kick off on Thursday evening with Zambezi Eagles taking on Malawi Queens.

The Gems will begin their campaign on Friday against Malawi Queens, before wrapping up the tournament on Saturday.

The matches will serve as a crucial test for the Gems as they aim to fine-tune their tactics and gel as a team ahead of the Celtic Cup.

The Celtic Cup, set to take place at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, from November 26 to November 30, promises to be a highly competitive tournament, featuring a star-studded lineup of netball playing nations including Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Uganda, and Namibia.
