Filabusi Registry Complex nears completion ahead of Independence celebrations

THE Filabusi Registry Complex, which stalled in 2006 due to financial constraints, is a few touches away from completion after Government funded the project under the Independence Legacy Projects.

Hosting this year’s national independence in Matabeleland South will not just transform the province in terms of infrastructure development but will also bring critical services closer to the people.

Public Works Director, Sijabuliso Ncube, said the project will be completed by April 1.

“We are going to meet the deadline, and definitely by the end of this month, we will be done with everything.”

Completion of the complex dovetails with the Second Republic’s commitment to equitable infrastructure development.

“Our people will now be able to access critical services. The progress and work that has been done here is impressive,” the Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe said.

The Special Advisor to the President Responsible for Monitoring Implementation of Government Programmes, Dr Joram Gumbo, who toured the project this Thursday, said Government is impressed by the work that has been done at the Independence Legacy Project.

“Hosting this independence will leave an indelible mark on the province. People used to travel to get their documents in Gwanda and Bulawayo, we are happy as Government that this is going to be a thing of the past.”

Matabeleland South hosts this year’s National Independence Celebrations at Maphisa Business Centre, running under the theme: ‘Zim @46, Unity and Development Towards Vision 2030.’
