THE European Union(EU) has described the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) as an important platform for demonstrating its commitment to promoting trade and investment in Zimbabwe.
EU is exhibiting for the third time at the ZITF, held a media briefing in Bulawayo this Friday where they expressed commitment to continue strengthening trade relations with Zimbabwe.
“We have seen that this is a successful platform that allows us to grow our trade relations with Zimbabwe,” the EU Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ambassador Jobst von Kirchmann said.
The European Union also believes this year’s trade showcase is more than just a fair but a platform for the EU to promote trade between the two countries.
“This was more than just a fair it gave us a platform to showcase that we are offering Zimbabwe duty and export-free tariffs for any product,” Ambassador Kirchmann said.
With the private sector being an engine for growth, the European Union is also looking forward to enhancing trade relations in that regard to advance industrialisation.
“The private sector is the engine for growth we need to find more synergies in that regard,” Portugal’s Ambassador, Mr Rui Concalves Monteiro said.
“Collaborations for trade are the way to go if we are to re-industrialise,” Sweden Ambassador, H.E Per Lindgärde said.
Zimbabwe’s premier trade showcase continues to grow thanks to His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Zimbabwe is Open for business policy which has seen European countries like Italy, Romania, France, Sweden, Portugal and Netherlands subscribing consistently.
