CROSS border traders in Harare Province have started receiving funding under the US$200 000 Cross Borders for ED Revolving Fund launched in May this year.

Hundreds of cross-border traders in Harare have become the latest to benefit from the revolving fund. This Sunday marked the commencement of the disbursement process in Harare Province.

Beneficiaries are optimistic that the initiative will have a positive impact on their businesses.

“We thank the President for remembering us. My business will certainly grow from here. Indeed, true to his word of leaving no place or person behind, we have been remembered, and this will change our lives. The scheme will boost our business, and it is very flexible and affordable to all who qualify,” one of the beneficiaries noted.

The Cross Borders for ED leadership emphasised the good use of the funds.

“This is a demonstration that the President loves his people. This is a revolving fund. We urge all beneficiaries to repay their loans so others can also benefit. Let’s declare our goods so the country earns revenue to fund government programmes. Let’s avoid bringing in illegal items. Let’s be honest and patriotic in our business dealings.” Cross Borders for ED National Chairperson, David Masomere said.

The revolving fund represents a significant stride in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation at the grassroots level, directly supporting Vision 2030 for an upper-middle-income society.

The initiative, which follows the footsteps of other empowerment programmes, such as the Presidential War Veterans Fund and the Presidential Youth Fund, is aimed at bolstering economic activity and empowering various segments of the population.
