Economic stability and industrial growth top ZNCC agenda

VICTORIA FALLS – ZIMBABWE’S business leaders are set to converge in the resort city of Victoria Falls this Wednesday for the 2025 edition of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Annual Congress, where economic recovery, policy alignment, and sustainable industrial growth are topping the agenda.

The high-level engagement running for three days has attracted a wide cross-section of industry players, economists, policymakers, and development experts, all seeking to contribute to Zimbabwe’s economic transformation agenda by year-end.

ZNCC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chris Mugaga, says the timing of the congress is opportune, as the private sector must demonstrate commitment to the government’s development trajectory.

“Zimbabwe has what it takes in terms of creating sustainable policies for the growth and survival of business so this conference is being held at the right time where we want the entire private sector to attend and show commitment to the government’s cause or thrust for development,” he said.

CBZ Holdings Limited Chairperson, Mr Luxon Zembe, echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the need for candid dialogue.

“We expect that the deliberations will be open and frank in identifying the real needs of business while reviewing the current state of the economy. While there are challenges, the Government’s willingness to engage the private sector is vital for sustainable growth,” he said.

Economist Mr Persistence Gwanyanya emphasised the need for strong fiscal and monetary synergy, backed by constructive dialogue.

“The stability we are seeing in fiscal and monetary policy must be complemented by open networking. The Government can learn from the private sector, and vice versa. This congress must foster that critical exchange,” he said.

The government has affirmed its commitment to the dialogue process, with Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs and Devolution, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, reiterating that economic development requires active collaboration.

“The government is committed to working with the private sector. Our participation in this congress underscores our dedication to creating platforms that drive industrialisation and inclusive development,” he said.

As the country presses ahead with Vision 2030, the ZNCC Annual Congress is expected to produce actionable policy proposals that promote economic growth, enhance ease of doing business, and consolidate Zimbabwe’s industrial base.
