DYNAMOS have reignited their fight for survival in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after securing maximum points in a crucial 2–0 victory over Green Fuel at Rufaro Stadium this Sunday.
Matchday 26 brought drama, redemption, and late twists, with the Harare giants once again finding the winning formula. Goals from Jairos Kasondo early in the second half and a composed penalty from Temptation Chiwunga sealed a third consecutive league triumph for the Glamour Boys, making it five victories overall this campaign.
The 22-time champions picked up their third league victory on the trot, though still rooted second from bottom, Dynamos have reduced the gap between themselves and safety to three points, as they are now on 25 points.
The result marks Dynamos’ fifth straight win overall under Kelvin Kaindu, restoring belief among the Glamour Boys’ faithful as the league heads into its final stretch.
With another Harare giant, CAPS United, winning yesterday, the perfect weekend for the country’s big three teams was completed as Pieter De Jongh registered a winning return at Highlanders.
A first-half penalty converted by Nigerian import Benjamin Adeogun and a 44th-minute strike from Reason Sibanda were enough to edge Bikita Minerals 2–1, despite a late fightback.
With the big three facing the chop, the maximum points earned this weekend are a crucial lifeline for the relegation-threatened traditional giants.
Across the host city, MWOS pulled a dramatic comeback against Manica Diamonds in a fixture played at Sakubva Stadium.
After trailing to Anelka Chivandire’s 77th-minute strike for Manica Diamonds, MWOS refused to throw in the towel, and when it seemed all over, in the 94th minute, Wilson Mensah struck a last-gasp equaliser to keep their own title chase on course.
With just eight games remaining, every point counts, and for clubs fighting on both ends of the table, the pressure is only just beginning.
