Drumming up support for President Mnangagwa high on the agenda

Story by Courage Bushe

The Young Women for Economic Development has taken its empowerment drive to Zvishavane after availing inputs for income generating projects.

Young Women for Economic Development national and provincial leadership descended on Zvishavane this Wednesday to drum up support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ZANU PF party ahead of the upcoming general elections.

The Young Women for Economic Development leadership took the opportunity to hand over poultry and seedlings to more than 200 women.

“I’m a first-time voter and I’m happy with how the association is doing for us. Its empowerment drive is good for us women especially from the rural areas,” said a delighted young lady.

“This is a good initiative for the girl child because we have been empowered.  We will continue to rally behind the party and the president and make sure that the president Ed got more than 5 million votes,” added another pleased young woman.

Young Women for Economic Development National Chairperson Honourable Tatenda Mavetera says the initiative is meant to ensure women have a reliable source of income.

“We are in Vugwi area of Zvishavane in Midlands to mobilise support for our President and the party while also rolling out empowerment projects that are meant to alleviate women in the province,” Young Women for Economic Development National Chairperson Honourable Tatenda Mavetera.

The Second Republic has emphasised the intricate link between women, youth and sustainable economic development; hence their inclusion in the national development matrix is critical.
