CHILLSPOT Records producer and promoter, Tafadzwa Mandaza popularly known as DJ Ribhe, who is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl, was this Wednesday remanded in custody pending trial.
The 32-year-old DJ was arraigned before Harare Magistrate, Marewanazvo Gofa who advised him to approach the High Court for bail.
He is expected back in court on November 14 for routine remand.
It is alleged that DJ Ribhe and the 14-year-old live in the same neighbourhood in Harare’s Glen Norah suburb.
It is the State’s case that on October 16, 2024, the complainant did not go back home from school after her father was told that she did not report for school for two consecutive days.
On the 17th day of October 2024 at around 2200hrs, the complainant went to the accused person’s place in the company of other people and they went to Mashwede Village where the accused allegedly manipulated the complainant to drink an unknown substance and smoke shisha.
The court heard that when the complainant gained consciousness at DJ Ribhe’s place, she realised that the accused had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
On October 20 the complainant was spotted in Highfields and the matter was reported.
She was then interviewed by her father and she disclosed what had happened.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Ribhe’s arrest.
