DEVOLUTION funds are improving access to quality healthcare in rural Zvishavane following the construction of a new clinic that is bringing essential services closer to communities.
Funded by Government, Chirere Clinic is transforming healthcare delivery in the district, reflecting the Second Republic’s commitment to expanding primary healthcare access in rural areas in line with the National Development Strategy 2.
The facility now serves villagers in Wards 14 and 19 who previously travelled long distances to Chenhunguru Clinic and Madzivadonho Clinic in neighbouring Chivi District.
“For a long time, we have been facing challenges of walking for more than 15 kilometers to the next clinic. The clinic aims to provide essential services for maternal and child health, along with general medical care that addresses the most pressing health issues faced by local residents,” a resident said.
“The commitment by President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has always been to ensure that healthcare is accessible, and with this clinic, we take a giant leap toward achieving this vital goal,” a community member said.
The construction of Chirere Clinic is not only a landmark achievement for the community but also demonstrates government’s commitment to addressing healthcare disparities in rural areas.
“We want to thank President Dr Mnangagwa and his Government for addressing our challenges here in the rural areas. Before the construction of this facility, we would walk for more than 18 kilometers to access health care services in Chenhunguru and Madzivadonho in Chivi District,” a villager said.
“As expecting mothers, there is no need for us to go to Zvishavane for delivery since we now have a maternal wing at our doorstep, which is a positive development for us. In the past, we had to travel to other areas to access health care services,” a pregnant woman said.
Government’s focus on devolution and local development underscores a broader vision for equitable growth and sustainable community development across the country.
