Story by Davison Vandira

The local construction industry has pledged to play its part in the implementation of the National Development Strategy One buoyed by the ZWL$ 1.1 trillion set aside for the sector in the 2023 national budget.

With the realisation that Zimbabwe’s economic development agenda is premised on 14 pillars under the National Development Strategy One, with infrastructure development being central, construction industry players have pledged to fully support the Second Republic’s economic vision.

Vice president of Zimbabwe Builders Association Dr Tinashe Manzungu said,” As players in the construction industry we are ready and very much capacitated as we look to tap into the budget that was allocated to our sector and this year is an opportunity for us to grow as a sector as well as the nation to meet its developmental aspirations.”

CEO of the Construction Industry Federation of Zimbabwe, Mr Martin Chingaira noted, “We want to applaud the government for an inclusive policy framework as far as construction is concerned over the past three years as such we have prepared well for the task at hand which we think we will accomplish with flying colours.”

Economic analysts have paid tribute to the government for creating a conducive investment environment laden with opportunities for the capital-intensive construction industry, which is set to improve people’s living standards in line with the targeted vision of 2030.
