The Mt Darwin community is on cloud nine after the ZANU PF leadership adopted a multi-stakeholder approach to boost healthcare facilities, with five health centres receiving an assortment of goods to improve service delivery.
The Mount Darwin political leadership visited health facilities in the district, availing much-needed assistance in various forms to five clinics, mainly in previously marginalised areas.
“I am happy our political leadership has visited Mutasa Clinic deep down here. We don’t often get visitors and this visit is a first of its kind,” a community member said.
A nurse said, “We also got money to buy mattresses, blankets, and sheets to put at our waiting mothers shelter. We also got money to buy desks, chairs medicines, and 20 bags of cement to build toilets because our catchment covers 11 820 people but we only had 4 toilets for all the people.”
Handing over donations, Mt Darwin Senator Dr James Makamba, who was accompanied by Mt. Darwin North Legislator Honourable Laban Munemo and Proportional representation legislator Honourable Elizabeth Shongedza, among other leaders, said supporting health institutions is key in fostering healthy lifestyles.
Dr Makamba said, “Mt Darwin it’s not a secret the district was ravaged by the liberation war so we are somewhat lagging behind. We cannot only wait for government projects, as leaders, we are elected by these people who are here, they expect change progress, and assistance so we run around, raise funds from business people, the community NGOs, and help in uplifting standards of our people.”
“We are not going back, our President says we should not leave any place or anyone behind which means it’s an inclusivity behind so that is why we are here,” said Honourable Munemo.
The five health centres comprising Mutasa, Kamutsenzere, Dotito, Nembire and Mutungagore clinics received assistance ranging from building materials, detergents, and food stuff.
