Church partners with govt to drive the national development agenda

THE church has pledged its unwavering support to the national development agenda being spearheaded by the second republic.

From the time of the liberation struggle, there has been a symbiotic relationship between ZANU PF and the church.

As such, one of the ruling party’s affiliates, Pastors for Economic Development, has rallied its members behind the national development being spearheaded by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“The development that is being done by our President is there for everyone to see, but my message is: as an affiliate, we are in full support of the trajectory. We want our members to be in the cells and everyone to rally behind the success story. Now that we have been given a revolving fund, it is time for us to become economically empowered,” Pastors for ED chairperson, Ms Idiraishe  Dongo said.

Addressing Pastors 4ED members who attended the launch of the Presidential Empowerment Fund in Gwanda this Saturday, Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe, said the clergy should make use of the fund to develop themselves as the country pursues to achieve an upper-middle-income society by 2030.

“Pastors, go there and preach the good things being done by the President and bring people to the party. We can only develop this country if we are united. This initiative, championed by President ED Mnangagwa, is a clear demonstration of his recognition of the vital role that our religious leaders play not only in the spiritual world but also in their economic emancipation,” Honourable Nguluvhe noted.

A seed capital of more than US$200 000 has been given to Pastors for Economic development to foster self-reliance, empowerment, and contribute to national development.
