CHIREDZI West legislator Darlington Chiwa, who is facing charges of stealing Constituency Development Funds (CDF) is expected back in court this Monday for bail application after he was remanded in custody on Saturday.
The State is opposing Chiwa’s release on bail, arguing he might interfere with witnesses.
Chiwa, through his lawyer, is expected to make a full bail application this Monday.
He is alleged to have squandered the funds meant for community projects on beer, shoes, groceries and building materials.
The amount involved is an equivalent of US$50 000 in ZiG currency.
Chiwa was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.
