THE Chevrons are banking on home advantage when they compete for a place at the 2023 Cricket World Cup as the country hosts the qualifiers from the 18th of June to the 9th of July.
Just like in 2018, the Chevrons have been given the opportunity to try and qualify for the World Cup in front of their home fans.
The Chevrons were however not so lucky in 2018 as they failed to proceed to the World Cup after being shocked by UAE at the semi-final stage of the qualifiers.
Five years later, Zimbabwe find themselves hosting a ten-team Qualifier that will see the top two teams proceeding to India for the World Cup in November.
Bumper crowds have been turning up at national team matches and the boys are eager to repay the faith.
“The crowds have been amazing both in Harare and in Bulawayo, and we need to make the most of it we owe them dating back to 2018 and now playing at home is the best and we need to make things right and play at the ODI World Cup,” said Chevrons all-rounder, Sean Williams
Eight teams, including hosts India, have already qualified for the global showpiece through the World Cup Qualifying Super League.
Zimbabwe are outside the top eight and will be joined by five associate Nations as well as the last four teams from Super League at the qualifiers.
