THE Matabeleland North Provincial Investment Indaba kicked off in Umguza with potential investors having responded overwhelmingly to scout for business opportunities.
With representatives from all seven districts showcasing opportunities and seeking strategic partnerships, the conference has become a key platform for unlocking the province’s investment potential.
Local authority officials have described the Indaba as a vital avenue to promote their economic prospects to both domestic and international investors.
“This platform offers us rare opportunities to showcase that we can harness and grow our economies at the local level,” Lupane Local Housing Director Board, Mr Freedom Sibanda said.
Hwange RDC Campfire Officer, Mr Xolisani Ncube said, the event is an important linkage to create and build businesses.
“We are looking at this event as an important linkage to create and build businesses that will benefit our stakeholders and ratepayers,” he said.
“This platform is marketing what we have. Our investors will then bring in capital which in turn will create opportunities and solutions for us as we work together,” Hwange Local Board CEO, Mr Ndumiso Mdlalose added.
The province is banking on its vast resources to create more investments that will increase its GDP.
“We have vast opportunities in mining, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, and wildlife. We have players not only from local authorities but also from government entities who are offering business opportunities in their jurisdictions. It is an exciting time for Matabeleland North,” Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Richard Moyo said.
Almost 300 potential investors have turned out for the three-day Indaba where organisers were expecting at least 180.
