A golf tournament staged in Harare this Friday under the Commander Defence Forces Executive Interaction Initiative (EII) has drawn the attention of various captains of industry with efforts to raise funds for ZDF charity programmes.

Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe, Air Marshall John Jacob Nzvede, who presided over the event on behalf of Commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces, General Philip Valerio Sibanda said the event was meant to appreciate each other’s critical role in the country’s economy.

“EII as a platform started over a decade ago after the army leadership and captains of the industry and commerce realised the need to meet, share ideas and appreciate each other’s critical role in the country’s economy. The idea of EII is to create a conducive environment where all the champions come together to offer opportunities to network for both the military and business communication from provincial level to national level. EII activities is held to thank supporters of government events,” he said.

Stakeholders who spoke to ZBC News concurred that the initiative plays a pivotal role in empowering marginalised communities in the country.

EII member, Justice Matsatsire said, “This is my first time to playing, but the major push for me is to complement the ZDF in looking after those in need. I would also want to implore fellow business captains to come on board. I had witnessed a lot of community development done by the ZDF.”

ZNA Commander Harare District, Colonel Richard Mapanda said, “Today’s event witnessed the powerful catalyst for positive changes, having a positive impact of the marginalised community. This initiative have given rise to making a change of the lives of those in need. I would like to thank you for contribution.”
