Bullets crumble at Mandava

Story by Courage Bushe

Defending champions FC Platinum continued with their winning start in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after beating Cranborne Bullets 1-0 at Mandava Stadium this Saturday.

The champions produced a dominant first-half performance, but wilted away in the second half as they laboured against a defensively organised Cranborne Bullets at home.

FC Platinum midfielder Brian Banda put the hosts in front towards the end of the first half when he slotted home a perfect cross from Winger Panashe Mutimbanyoka in the 40th minute.

Despite a dismal second-half performance from the Champions, head coach Norman Mapeza was pleased by the performance.

“I am very happy with how the boys played despite missing several chances, especially in the first half but they managed the game well,” Mapeza said.

Cranborne Bullets head coach Nesbert Saruchera drew some positives from the game.

“We played very well in the second half and I’m happy with our performance because we are improving. We are coming up with combinations and hopefully our next game we will run riot.”

The win took FC Platinum to the summit of the log early in the season.
