BULAWAYO industries are burning the midnight oil, embracing technology and innovation to maximise production.
Away from prying eyes, new companies are being borne, breathing life into Zimbabwe’s second largest city, Bulawayo which used to be the country’s industrial hub.
In the place of human capital are machines that according to Renford Manufacturing’s Mr Ignatius Kwindingwi, are the way to go for the revival of industries in Bulawayo.
“We have new machinery that is performing the job at a larger scale to meet the demand of our growing markets. We are servicing markets all over Zimbabwe and it is safe to say Bulawayo is indeed ripe for the growth of businesses,” said Mr Kwindingwi.
Traditional brands such as Kango are staying afloat by moving with the demands of their modern markets and, by so doing growing export markets.
“We have diversified our products to cater for not only mothers but young children as well and to those who like colourful kitchenware and our markets are indeed diversifying as they are as far-reaching as Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique,” said Kango’s marketing director Ms Thoko Ndlovu.
The Second Republic’s industrialisation drive is bearing fruit as many companies in the city are diversifying and penetrating export markets.
