THE United Nations Women Executive Board, which kick-started its visit to the country by meeting President Emmerson Mnangagwa, visited Bulawayo this Thursday as part of efforts to strengthen key partnerships for promoting and supporting gender equality in the country.
The Board’s assessment tour underscores UN Women’s unwavering commitment to creating partnerships that promote women’s inclusion in all aspects of the economy.
“We have been privileged to meet the Head of State as well as the ministers as part of our familiarisation tour. We want to create key partnerships that will help promote gender mainstreaming,” UN Women Executive Board chair Her Excellency Ms Nicola Clase noted.
The Bulawayo local leadership extended appreciation to the UN Women Executive Board for its dedication to promoting an inclusive society that prioritises gender mainstreaming.
“We believe this visit will play a key role in enhancing collaboration between UN Women and the city of Bulawayo,” Bulawayo Mayor Senator David Coltart said.
The Board’s assessment tour is running from the 4th to the 10th of this month.
