Bosso promises fireworks in Uhuru Cup final

Story by Mthokozisi Dube

BULAWAYO giants, Highlanders, have promised fireworks in the Independence Cup final slated for Mount Darwin on Tuesday with the Bosso technical department confirming that they will field a competitive side.

Following the decision by the Premier Soccer League to shelve the titanic league battle between Highlanders and Dynamos which was slated for Barbourfields stadium on Saturday, Bosso have shifted focus to Tuesday’s Uhuru Cup match against Dembare set for Mt Darwin.

Highlanders Technical Manager Baltemer Brito has fired the early warning shots saying they are prepared to face Dembare anywhere in Zimbabwe.

“The cancelled fixture dampened our spirits and we had to calm down the boys. The decision was meant to protect Dynamos. Dynamos were a little bit nervous. We now need to travel while they stay put in the capital. We have a match against Yadah coming probably on Friday or Saturday, so we will as well consider setting a temporary base in the capital. We now have to travel which will affect our preparation time,” he said.

Brito also promised fireworks come Tuesday.

“It is a cup game and we are facing a main opponent. We will go with a competitive side. We had feedback on the turf and we are optimistic, we will have a normal game,” he said.

Highlanders are the defending champions after beating Dynamos one-nil courtesy of a Stanley Ngala strike at Babourfields stadium.

All eyes will be on whether the Bulawayo giants will continue with their dominance in the Uhuru Cup which is expected to light up the Independence Day celebrations in Mt Darwin.
