The Binga community in Matabeleland North province has embraced the Zimbabwe Gold ZiG currency saying it has brought stability and a feeling of entitlement to the citizenry.
The acknowledgement by the Binga Community signifies a strong push for inclusive growth and confidence building around the new currency, thus inspiring its usage across the country.
The ZiG, which was introduced in April has received support from all corners of the country and beyond.
“Our clarion call to the Reserve Bank is to increase the availability of the new currency to outlying areas like Binga. We need the currency here,” said a community member.
Another said, “The new currency is a game changer, we accept it.”
This position was buttressed by the traditional leadership.
“We are Zimbabwe, and we need to embrace our currency. Most countries have their own and Zimbabwe can’t be left out. This currency is good for our economy and the introduction of this currency is the best foot forward,” said Chief Saba, Mr Charles Mudenda.
Economic experts contend the ZiG is expected to continue anchoring stability and inclusive economic growth.
