Arts industry mourns Amakorokoza star Aleck Zulu

The arts industry has been plunged into mourning following the death of veteran actor Aleck Zulu on Monday.
He was 54.
Zulu was widely known for his iconic role as “Skoro” in the television drama series Amakorokoza, which earned him recognition among audiences across the country.
Fellow actor Memory Kumbota confirmed his death on Facebook, sharing a tribute message in honour of the late veteran performer.
“When uBhud’ Smart left to settle back home in Zambia after retirement he said to me I need you to look after my boy since you do the same work. I don’t know if I could have, should have, must have done better. Aleck is gone. Only yesterday we were chatting about his Passion Play rehearsal with youngsters of the St Patricks Roman Catholic. His last act was doing God’s work. Rest in peace mfanawami,” Kumbota said.
Celebrated playwright Raisedon Baya also paid tribute to the late actor, sharing a heartfelt condolence message on his Facebook page in remembrance of the veteran performer.
“Aleck Zulu, my guy. You fell too quickly. While processing it all. I choose to remember two things about you. You made us laugh. And sometimes you could be loud! Rest in Peace!”
