CAPTAINS of industry are set to gather at the CEO Africa Roundtable set for Victoria Falls where they are expected to galvanise government support towards building an improved business operating environment.

The private sector is confident further policy fine-tuning in the next five years will improve the operating environment to ensure the business community becomes a reliable partner in the country’s economic development.

This comes when captains of industry are set to converge in Victoria Falls for the CEO Africa Roundtable from the 11th to the 13th of next month.

CEO Africa Roundtable Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kipson Gundani noted that the conference which will be the first big gathering of captains of industry after the 2023 plebiscite is expected to set the tone for an improved business operating environment.

“There is a new thrust towards creating corporations that can impact economic growth and development on the African continent, especially to carry out huge projects which can transform the continent. At the Annual CEO Africa Roundtable, it is expected to discuss smart partnerships with the government that are impactful and also discuss how the government can make the environment suitable for investment, especially after the general elections,” he said.

CEO AFRICA Roundtable chairperson, Mr Oswell Binha added that the platform is an opportunity to seek an audience with the government to fine-tune policy positions on issues like currency reforms which are key in accelerated industrial growth.

“Government has been amenable to working with the private sector, especially under the Second Republic and issues like currency reforms have been topical in many of our engagements with the government and we expect that it will also provide more clarity on currency de-dollarisation and the multi-currency policy framework,” he said.

The Second Republic has taken a paradigm shift in dealing and engaging with the private sector towards economic policy formulation and the CEO Africa Roundtable has become a revered platform where government meets private sector stakeholders to share and discuss policies.
