ALL is now set for the 45th Independence Celebrations to be held in Gokwe Nembudziya, with government confirming the completion of key utilities for the successful hosting of the national event.

Within the next 72 hours, Zimbabwe will record yet another milestone when it marks 45 years since attaining independence.

Ahead of this year’s commemorations, preparations are being finalised.

At a post-cabinet media briefing in Harare this Tuesday, government stated the progress on key projects that have been implemented in Gokwe Nembudziya.

The Uhuru celebrations are also breathing a new lease of life for Gokwe North and South districts after major rehabilitation of the road networks.

In remembrance of the heroes and heroines who sacrificed for the liberation of the country, government has implemented projects in their honour.

Other key cabinet highlights include a plan by government to intensify the use of clean energy, with a target to connect three million households by 2030.

According to the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Honourable July Moyo, the roadmap will target at least one million houses within the first year of implementation.

This plan dovetails with an Energy Compact blueprint approved by cabinet, which seeks to achieve universal access to affordable, reliable and sustainable electricity by 2030.
