Advantage FC Platinum as Simba drop crucial points

FC Platinum have reduced the gap between themselves and the log leaders Simba Bhora to seven points after edging Highlanders one-nil at Mandava Stadium this Saturday.

Simba Bhora’s trip to Mhondoro Ngezi could only reap a point as FC Platinum took full advantage of the drop in points to close in on the title race.

With six matches left before the end of the season, FC Platinum are not letting anything to chance after a recent slump in form, but seem poised to fight until the very end after outmatching Bulawayo giants Highlanders at Mandava Stadium.

Panashe Mutimbanyoka was the hero for Pure Platinum Play after scoring on the stroke of halftime, to punish Highlanders in arguably one of the biggest fixtures of the weekend.

In the other weekend blockbuster match, fellow Platinum Miners Ngezi Platinum Stars were on guard to make sure that Simba Bhora do not leave for Shamva with a nine point lead at the summit of the PSL standings.

Both sides could not find the back of the net, with a nil-all draw the final result, opening up the run in to the title race.

Dynamos continued to show renewed breath under Lloyd Chigowe after winning a low-key Harare Derby, beating Herentals by two goals to one.

In other Matchday 28 results, ZPC Kariba failed to utilise on their home advantage as they lost by a goal-to-nil to Greenfuel, while Arenel Movers and Hwange could not be separated after playing out to another nil-all draw.

Matchday 28 action continues this Sunday as Bikita Minerals host Manica Diamonds at Sakubva Stadium, CAPS United welcome bogey side Yadah to Rufaro Stadium and Chicken Inn clash with Bulawayo Chiefs at Luveve Stadium.

The last match of the day puts Chegutu Pirates up against TelOne at Baobab Stadium.
