Story by Collette Musanyera
Scores of children from countries like Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa and the host Zimbabwe, have converged in the tourist town of Victoria Falls, for the Regional World Children’s Day Celebrations.
The children were drawn from different levels ranging from primary to secondary school.
The children had an opportunity to interact with the First Lady, whom they played golf and chess with.
They described Amai Mnangagwa as an affable, jovial, and loving mother.
World Children’s Day, which takes places each year on the 20th of November annually, marks the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.
The theme for this year’s celebrations is, “Educate and Skill the African Child for Posterity.”
