PRESIDENT Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officially commission the University of Zimbabwe Specialist Medical Centre in Harare today, marking the completion of a project designed to strengthen specialist healthcare and medical training.
Construction of the facility began after the foundation stone was laid in 2021, and the centre is now ready to open its doors to the public.
The specialist medical centre is expected to enhance clinical training by exposing University of Zimbabwe students to modern specialist medical equipment and advanced healthcare technologies.
The multidisciplinary facility will provide specialised services in oral health, eye care, assisted reproduction and emergency medicine.
Its commissioning also aligns with Zimbabwe’s Heritage-based Education 5.0 model, which promotes practical, innovation-driven learning by equipping tertiary institutions with facilities that integrate teaching, research and service delivery.
