THE curtain came down on the 43rd edition of the Old Mutual National High Schools Quiz this Friday, with St Anthony’s High School from Masvingo Province emerging as the national champions at the Heritage Village in Harare.
The televised academic competition brought together some of the country’s brightest students through preliminary rounds, provincial contests and the grand finale, showcasing academic excellence, teamwork and critical thinking.
St Anthony’s High School outperformed other finalists to claim the coveted national title.
“The competition was tough, but through teamwork we emerged victorious. We are also excited about the prizes we have won, which will go a long way in supporting our academic success,” said one of the winning students.
The runners-up described the competition as an important platform for building confidence, encouraging teamwork and broadening students’ knowledge.
“For a boarding school like ours, this was a great opportunity. The exposure has shown that we are a school to reckon with. We may come from a small town that is not well known, but we made it to the national finals,” said a student from Vhengere High School.
“This was a battle for supremacy. Although we did not win, we represented our school well by reaching the finals. We will come back stronger next year,” said a student from Kwenda High School.

Schools from all 10 provinces showcased their academic prowess in a series of highly competitive contests, with the finalists demonstrating exceptional knowledge and determination throughout the competition.
