THE 23rd ZANU PF National People’s Conference, scheduled for October at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) in Mashonaland West Province, will be held under the theme: “From Resolutions to Results: Consolidating Economic Development and Deepening Empowerment Towards Vision 2030.”
The theme was unveiled by the ruling party’s National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, during a preparatory meeting at the conference venue in Chinhoyi on Friday.
Explaining the theme, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said it reflects progress made by the Second Republic in advancing economic development and empowering communities across the country.
She also highlighted key infrastructure projects in Mashonaland West, including the rehabilitation of the Harare-Chirundu Highway.
“Our theme for the conference is ‘From Resolutions to Results: Consolidating Economic Development and Deepening Empowerment Towards Vision 2030.’ It is quite befitting considering the inroads that we are making as government. Now we have reached eight percent economic growth as a country and we are number two in Africa, coming just after Ethiopia.
“Wherever we have held these conferences on a rotational basis, we have left legacy projects for that province. In this case, the exciting issue is the main road leading to Kariba and Chirundu Border Post. We have been assured by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development that they are working on it and the budget has been set.”
Following a tour of the conference venue, Politburo member Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi and ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Chairperson Cde Mary Mliswa Chikoka said preparations were progressing well.
Cde Ziyambi said:
“The meeting, led by the National Chairperson, assessed our preparedness to host the upcoming People’s Conference. We toured several facilities, including the venue, and are satisfied with the level of preparedness. The main area that still requires attention is the roads leading to Chinhoyi.”
Cde Mliswa Chikoka said the province was ready to host the annual gathering.
“As Mashonaland West Province, we are pleased by the visit of the National Chairperson to assess preparations. She expressed satisfaction with the progress made, and the outstanding issues she identified are now being addressed to ensure everything proceeds smoothly.”
The 23rd ZANU PF National People’s Conference will be held as the ruling party marks the enactment of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, which it says will help consolidate the national development agenda.
