DYNAMOS condemned FC Platinum to another frustrating afternoon at Mandava Stadium, securing a 1-0 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League victory to extend the hosts’ winless home run to May.
Ben Daouda Sidibe’s 72nd-minute strike proved decisive as Dynamos absorbed sustained pressure before capitalising on one of their few clear opportunities to claim all three points.
FC Platinum dominated much of the contest but failed to convert their chances, with Trevor Bhunu missing several clear-cut opportunities.
The breakthrough came when Frank Agyemang supplied Sidibe, who calmly finished to hand Dynamos victory and maintain the Harare giants’ unbeaten run under head coach Aristica Cioaba.
FC Platinum coach Joel Luphahla admitted the defeat was difficult to take but was encouraged by the contribution of his new recruits.
“This is disappointing because we were playing at home and could have easily taken the game, but they got the better of us. A loss is disappointing for us as a club, but our new boys really gave us a good show. Once they gel together, they will do better.”
Cioaba hailed his side’s discipline after another positive result.
“We are happy to collect maximum points away from home. We’re still unbeaten since I came in. I’m really happy with how we applied our tactics and how the guys are adapting to the new system. This is incredible.”
Meanwhile, Chicken Inn claimed a third successive league victory with a hard-fought 1-0 win over TelOne at Luveve Stadium.
The Gamecocks recovered from George Majika’s first-half penalty miss after TelOne goalkeeper Takudzwa Chikosi produced a save, before Michael Charamba volleyed home three minutes before half-time to settle the contest.
Chicken Inn coach Tonderai Ndiraya said the result reflected his side’s growing confidence.
“One goal, three points and three wins on the trot, something we have not done this season. It points to the team’s progression. We knew, though, that we would struggle with energy levels.”
TelOne coach Saul Chaminuka was left frustrated after another narrow defeat.
“Again, we gave away a goal in the closing stages of the first half and that settled everything. We are trying, but nothing is coming out of it.”
Elsewhere, ZPC Kariba stunned Highlanders 1-0, while champions Scottland came from behind to beat Bulawayo Chiefs 2-1. Simba Bhora and MWOS shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Matchday 25 concludes on Thursday with Triangle United hosting Ngezi Platinum Stars at Gibbo Stadium, Agama taking on Hardrock at Wadzanayi Stadium, and CAPS United facing FC Hunters at Rufaro Stadium.
