HEALTH professionals from across Zimbabwe have converged at Midlands State University in Gweru for the inaugural Public Health Sector Wellness Festival, a five-day initiative aimed at improving their wellbeing and strengthening healthcare delivery.

Held under the theme “Stronger Together, Healthier Together,” the festival focuses on enhancing the physical, mental and financial wellbeing of healthcare workers through wellness sessions, team-building activities and burnout prevention programmes.

The event, organised by the Health Service Commission in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, also offers free health screening services to members of the public.

The initiative is designed to build a resilient, motivated and healthy workforce capable of delivering quality healthcare services across the country.

Organisers say the festival recognises that supporting the wellbeing of healthcare professionals is essential to improving patient outcomes and strengthening Zimbabwe’s health system.

Over the five days, participants will take part in activities aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, fostering teamwork and equipping health workers with practical strategies to manage workplace stress and prevent burnout.

The festival is expected to become a platform for promoting staff wellness while reinforcing the critical role healthcare workers play in delivering effective and sustainable public health services.
