Zimbabwe Under-13 rugby side eyes development at SA youth week

Story by Nyasha Makota

ZIMBABWE’S Under 13 Rugby side remains firmly focused on development despite suffering a 10-nil defeat to Griffons on the third day of the South Africa Rugby Youth Week in Johannesburg this Friday.

The Junior Sables, who started their campaign on Wednesday, are using the week-long tournament to assess their level of competitiveness against some of the region’s best young talent while continuing to build the country’s grassroots rugby structures.

Despite the setback, head coach Alex Munowenyu says the tour has remained a valuable learning experience.

Munowenyu believes the experience gained throughout the tournament will play an important role in the development of the young squad.

The Junior Sables wrap up their campaign this Saturday before returning home later the same day.
