THE Southern African Development Community (SADC) Cluster Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Transport, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Meteorology has commenced in Bulawayo, bringing together regional leaders to deliberate on strategic issues affecting the three sectors.

The five-day meeting, being held at the Zimbabwe International Conference and Exhibition Smart City (ZICES), has drawn ministers and senior government officials from across the region.

Deliberations are expected to focus on strengthening policy and regulatory frameworks to enhance regional cooperation and align sectoral priorities with broader continental integration objectives.

Key areas under discussion include progress in aviation development, transport infrastructure projects, regional transport coordination, and meteorological cooperation.

The transport, ICT and meteorology sectors are regarded as critical enablers of trade, economic competitiveness and regional integration, making the outcomes of the meeting significant for the region’s development agenda.

Ministers are expected to review progress made in implementing regional programmes and assess measures aimed at improving connectivity, information exchange and weather-related services across member states.

The resolutions emerging from the meeting are anticipated to shape future policy direction and strengthen collaboration in sectors considered central to sustainable economic growth and regional development.
