THE Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches (ZIICC) has called on congregations across the country to pray for peace, unity and wisdom as Parliament continues debating Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill.
ZIICC, which brings together indigenous churches, said the national conversation surrounding the proposed constitutional amendment requires a unified approach rather than division.
ZIICC Patron, Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, said Zimbabwe has consistently benefited from seeking divine guidance during moments of national importance.
“I have seen Zimbabwe in its darkest valley and highest mountains. I have prayed with Presidents and with peasants. I have buried victims of division and celebrated the fruits of unity. What I know over the years is that Zimbabwe has never gone wrong after seeking the face of God.
“We are going to take seriously a period to pray deeply for this nation as Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill goes through parliamentary debate. We will pray for Members of Parliament, Senators and the President,” he said.
Bishop Mutendi urged congregations to set aside time for prayer while legislators deliberate on the Bill.
“We urge all church leaders to join us in prayer, and I know all peace-loving Zimbabweans will pray for this cause,” he added.
Zimbabweans have shown significant interest in Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill, with Parliament currently engaged in debate on the proposed constitutional changes.
