THE National Sports Stadium is set to host an operational Test Match on May 31 as part of ongoing preparations towards its full commissioning following extensive refurbishment works.
In a statement, Permanent Secretary for Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Mr Nicholas Moyo, said the Zimbabwe Football Association and the Premier Soccer League will announce teams that will battle it out on the day.
Mr Moyo said the test match is intended to assess the stadium systems, spectator flows, safety protocol, seating arrangements, pitch standards, and overall operational readiness of the facility ahead of full scale international and local sporting activities.
The renovated facility now boasts of upgraded bucket seats, modernised amenities, improved playing surfaces and enhanced spectator experience in line with international standards.
The public is encouraged to come in their numbers to witness the momentous occasion as the National Sports Stadium prepares to reclaim its place as the home of Zimbabwean football and international sporting excellence.
