THE Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union (ZITSU) Games have officially begun at Harare Polytechnic, bringing together athletes from universities, polytechnics, and teachers’ colleges for this year’s multi-sport competition.
The opening events drew strong participation from key sporting bodies, including the Technical Education, Sports Arts and Recreation, Zimbabwe Teachers Colleges Sports Association, and Zimbabwe University Sports Association.
Held annually, the games provide a platform to promote health, talent development, unity, and social integration among students across Zimbabwe.
ZITSU President, Edward Chekure, said the event plays a key role in youth development.
“The official opening of the Zimbabwe Tertiary Sports Games highlights youth development, talent exposure, and national unity through sport,” he said.
The tournament runs until Saturday, with organisers emphasising fair play, discipline, and the showcasing of emerging sporting talent from tertiary institutions nationwide.
