AUTHORITIES from Zimbabwe and South Africa have ensured a smooth flow of travellers at the Beitbridge Border Post as the Easter holidays come to an end.
The modernised border facility has continued to deliver efficient and seamless clearance services, allowing travellers to cross with minimal delays as they return to work and daily routines.
“We are done with the holidays. I came last week, so now it is time to return as I have work waiting for me,” one traveller said.
“I was attending a church service and everything went very well. We hope for journey mercies. These holidays gave us quality time with our families. We are grateful for the smooth processes here; everything is in order at the border,” another traveller said.
Officials say strong collaboration between the two countries has been key to managing the increased traffic.
South Africa Border Management Authority Commissioner, Dr Mike Masiapato said coordinated efforts have enhanced efficiency at the busy crossing.
“Beitbridge Border Post is a priority because it serves the entire region, not just our immediate neighbours. We are here to ensure travellers enjoy smooth passage as we conclude the Easter holidays. Our collaboration with Zimbabwean counterparts has been excellent for the benefit of all travellers,” he said.
ZIMBORDERS Manager Mr Nqobile Ncube said lessons from previous peak periods have helped improve operations.
“Every holiday is an opportunity to learn and improve. The government’s interventions, including boosting personnel at the border, made a significant difference in facilitating smooth passage for both vehicles and people,” he said.
The modernisation of the Beitbridge Border Post remains one of the government’s flagship infrastructure projects, enhancing trade, travel efficiency and regional integration.
