ZANU PF has intensified its awareness campaign on the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill, extending outreach to hard-to-reach communities in Kariba Rural and Hurungwe ahead of nationwide public hearings.
ZANU PF Mashonaland West provincial leadership is engaging party members through outreach programmes in Makande, Kariba rural and Kazangarare in Hurungwe, unpacking the provisions of the proposed amendments and their implications.
“We are grateful for this programme because it has helped us understand what this Bill really means. Before this, many of us only heard about it but did not fully comprehend its implications. Now we are better informed and able to participate meaningfully,” Cde Mutinhima Chikara said.
“As a community, we have seen development projects coming through, and this gives us confidence in the current leadership. We believe continuity will ensure more progress, which is why we are supporting these proposed changes,” a community member said.
“We are encouraging each other to come out in our numbers during the public consultations. It is important that our voices are heard, and we now appreciate the need to take part in national processes,” a resident said.
Party officials say the campaign is aimed at ensuring grassroots members fully understand the proposed changes arising from conference resolutions.
“Our thrust as a province is to leave no one and no place behind in terms of information dissemination. We are deliberately targeting remote areas like Makande and Kazangarare so that every party member fully understands the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill and its significance. The community is endorsing the Bill because of visible developments being witnessed,” ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs, Cde Mary Mliswa said.
“This programme is about empowering our members with knowledge so that they can engage confidently during the upcoming public consultations. An informed membership is critical in strengthening internal democracy and ensuring that the party’s resolutions are well understood at grassroots level,” ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Joachim Yotamu said.
“We are here to ensure that every young person fully understands the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill and its implications. As the Youth League, our role is to mobilise, educate and empower youths, especially in remote communities like Makande, so that they actively participate in the upcoming public consultations. We want young people to be informed, confident and ready to contribute to national development in line with the party’s resolutions,” ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Youth League Chairperson, Cde Tapiwa Masenda said.
With the outreach programme gathering momentum across Mashonaland West, the ruling party says it is committed to inclusive engagement, particularly in previously marginalised communities.
Public hearings on the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill are scheduled to run nationwide from April 30 to May 2.
