A Bulawayo-based finalist in this year’s Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant has described her journey as transformative and empowering ahead of the national finals set for April 11 in Harare.

Zanele Moyo(22) said the competition has provided a platform to showcase both her personal aspirations and the cultural richness of Bulawayo on a national stage.

“Miss Tourism has been quite an incredible journey, a journey that I am using to represent my city Bulawayo, and at this stage of the competition I am proud to say that I am not only representing myself as Zanele Moyo but I am representing a city that is very beautiful, a city very rich in cultural heritage and also the vibrant souls of people who stay here,” she said.

Moyo also expressed gratitude for the support she has received, noting that the experience has boosted her confidence while inspiring other young women.

“We started off as 30 girls, and from the 30 girls, we were cut down to the final 15 girls that are going to battle it out on stage on April 11 in Harare. This journey gives you a platform to not only represent yourself but a cause that is beyond you, nationally and internationally as well. I would like to encourage every young lady out there who feels like they are not enough to be confident in themselves, your dreams are not invalid. I would like to thank everyone who has been voting for me so far,” she said.

Fifteen contestants are set to compete for the crown at the Harare finals next month.
