Walter Magaya back in court on rape allegations

Story by Peter Chivima

PROPHETIC Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader Walter Magaya is appearing at the Harare Magistrates Court this Thursday, where he is facing allegations of rape.

The PHD Ministries leader is accused of allegedly raping three of his congregants.

Magaya is on the witness stand after he was placed on his defence.

In his last court appearance on Tuesday, Magaya filed an application for the proceedings to be heard at the Constitutional Court.

In the founding affidavits, Magaya claims he has no case to answer, stating that the witnesses in the matter have withdrawn their case against him.

He is also claiming that the prosecution interfered in the investigations.

In his submissions, Magaya is accusing the prosecution of altering the witnesses’ statements, arguing that a fair trial will be impossible.

The State is yet to respond to the allegations.

The PHD Ministries leader also stands accused of raping four other different complainants, where he is also seeking the matter to be heard at the Constitutional Court, claiming Constitutional breaches.
