THE ZANU-PF-led government has stepped up community development programmes, such as new healthcare facilities and irrigation projects, with Gutu Central Community being the latest to benefit.
For years, villagers in the Mupata area of Gutu Central have been travelling long distances to access medical care, but a new clinic, which is almost complete, has become a source of hope.
The villagers had a taste of what the future holds when they gathered at the facility for a routine medical outreach programme at the weekend.
“We are happy today, we have medical experts who are offering primary healthcare services. The programme was done here at Mupasimba clinic a facility we are looking forward to seeing its completion. All the structures are already there,
Apart from the health services we received here, my son Milton, who is disabled, received a wheelchair. As a family, we have been struggling to move him from one point to the other,
“We want to thank the government for establishing this clinic because we continue to walk long distances to Magombedze clinic or Mushayavanhu to access medical care, but the developments we are seeing show that soon the facility will be complete,” villagers said
Other agriculture projects were commissioned in the Chisheche area, including a community borehole for irrigation projects and a new dip-tank, all in support of rural development.
“The establishment of this community borehole opened a number of opportunities for us. We now have a dip tank, communities around are now accessing clean water and we are also doing community gardens.
“This project has enabled many to do agriculture projects now; many are growing crops throughout the year. Again, we are looking forward to improved livestock through this dip tank,” beneficiaries said.
Speaking after commissioning and touring these projects, the Minister of State for National Security, Honourable Lovemore Matuke, who is also a ZANU-PF Politburo member, encouraged community members to be part of the country’s development trajectory.
“I am happy today we had an opportunity to interact with the Gutu Central Community in Mupata area, where there was a medical outreach and here in Chisheche we witnessed a number of agriculture initiatives. It is my plea to the community not to be left behind. Rather, take advantage of these programs to empower themselves,” HonourableMatuke said.
Gutu Central Legislator, Honourable Winston Chitando, who is spearheading these projects, said empowerment of rural communities is key in attaining vision 2030.
“Our President continues to prove that Vision 2030 is attainable through the projects that are being implemented here in rural communities. The vision is attainable when our communities have access to healthcare, when there is food security and improved income,” Honourable Chitando said.
All these development programmes implemented by the Second Republic are meant to ensure improved rural livelihoods.
