THE late senior military officer, Brigadier General (Retired) Jonathan Hungwe has been declared a National Hero.
The message was delivered by Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira at Four Infantry Brigade in Masvingo this Tuesday after a funeral parade for Brigadier General (Rtd) Hungwe.
Minister Chadzamira said the conferment of national hero status is in recognition of Brigadier General (Rtd) Hungwe’s distinguished service to the country and his unwavering commitment to defending Zimbabwe’s sovereignty.
Brigadier General (Retired) Hungwe died on February 26 in Rutenga, Masvingo Province.
Mourners are gathered at Subdivision 3 Arco Ranch in Mwenezi.
