Cuba condemns terrorism, calls for renewed security cooperation with US

CUBA has reiterated its condemnation of terrorism and reaffirmed its willingness to cooperate with the United States and other nations in strengthening regional and international security.
In a statement released by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, terrorist financing and money laundering, in line with international standards.
The statement stressed that Cuba does not harbour, support, finance or allow terrorist or extremist organisations to operate from its territory, and remains committed to preventing, detecting and combating illicit financial activities.
The Ministry clarified that any past interactions involving individuals who were later designated as terrorists took place strictly within limited humanitarian frameworks linked to internationally recognised peace processes, and were conducted transparently at the request of the governments concerned.
Cuba also rejected claims that it poses a threat to the security of the United States, noting that it does not host foreign military or intelligence bases, nor has it supported hostile actions against any country. The Government emphasised that it will not allow its territory to be used for activities directed against another nation.
The statement said Havana is prepared to reactivate and expand bilateral cooperation with Washington to address shared transnational challenges, including counterterrorism, money laundering, drug trafficking, cybersecurity, human trafficking and other financial crimes.
While underscoring that such cooperation would not compromise Cuba’s sovereignty and independence, the Government said previous engagement between the two countries had demonstrated that progress was possible when there was mutual willingness.
Cuba concluded by reaffirming its readiness to maintain a respectful and reciprocal dialogue with the United States Government, based on mutual interest, international law and the principles of peaceful coexistence, noting that constructive engagement benefits both the Cuban and American peoples.
